Sara Sorribes Tormo and Marie Bouzkova were slammed on social media after controversially pushing the disqualifications of Miyu Kato and Aldila Sutjiadi.
When a ball hit the ballgirl and caused her to start crying, Kato and Sutjiadi were removed from the game. Kato accidentally and weakly struck a ball in the direction of a ballgirl who failed to avoid the ball in time, and the referee decided to disqualify Miyu Kato and Aldila Sutjiadi. Initially, the umpire just gave a warning, but under pressure from Bouzkova and Sorribes Tormo, he eventually decided to call the supervisor.
For the majority of the discussion, the two were actively attempting to get their opponent disqualified; the umpire and the supervisor ultimately succeeded in doing so. The desire of two professional tennis players to win a match in that manner disappointed many spectators.
After this act of poor sportsmanship, Bouzkova and Sorribes Tormo were heavily blasted on Social Media.
