Marco Cecchinato triumphs in Buenos Aires after demolishing home-favorite Diego Schwartzman 6-1 6-2 in the final.

The Italian was flawless for the entire week to concede no sets to his opponents during the 4 matches he played in Argentina.

The final

Marco was completely dominant for the entire match to finally win 61 points vs. Diego’s 36. The Italian took off from the 3rd game when he won 7 consecutive games (from 1-all to 6-1 2-0) before winning the match in just 65 minutes.

From Cecchinato

The Italian commented

“I was able to play a great match and was always focused. I followed the game plan from the beginning to the end. I was able to win the first two matches (of the tournament) the hard way, working point by point.

I improved my level yesterday, and I was focused today, so I’m happy with how I was able to win the tournament.”

This is Marco’s 3rd career title and after this feat, he will be ranked no.17. Cecchinato will now head to Rio where he will face Bedene in the opener.
