Rafa rules Anderson and reaches the quarters

No problems for Rafael Nadal against boom boom Anderson. The Spaniard had to battle just 1 set against the South African. Anderson missed his chances in the opener when he had 3 consecutive break points on a 5-all score-line in the opening set. Kevin didn’t manage to convert any to lose 7 consecutive games. So Anderson found himself from potentially being 1 set up to be 5-7 0-5 down. That was too much and eventually Rafa won the match 7-5 6-1 6-4 in just over 2 hours. Match Stats.

Nadal: The quarters is a great result

Rafa was very happy for the win “In general, even though he had chances in the first set, I was playing better than the days before. I had better rhythm in the legs, better rhythm with my forehand. So in general, I am very happy the way I played today. The way that I improved my level is not the most important thing; obviously the victory is.

For me, the quarter-finals is a great result. Arriving here, losing in the first round of Qatar, not playing matches for the last seven months, to have the chance to be in the quarter-finals again here is a very positive thing for me. I am not a person that I am happy like this and that’s it. No. I try to play better and better every day. If that happens, I hope to keep having chances for the next match.”

The quarters vs. Berdych

Rafa will play Tomas Berdych in the quarters. Tomas has reached the quarters without dropping a single set. Head to head is 18-3 for Rafa with Nadal winning the last 17th matches! Probably this is the time for Tomas to take advantage of Rafa being not at his 100%.

Prediction: Let’s be bold… Berdych in 5! …oh Rafa definitely disagrees with that!
