Simona is back to her fantastic levels in Doha where she reached the final after winning 2 huge battles against Julia Joerges 7-6 (1) 7-6 (6) and Elina Svitolina (6-3 3-6 6-4). The Romanian impressed for saving 2 consecutive set points in the tiebreak of the second set against the German and after recovering from a desperate scoreline against Svitolina when she was 1-4 down in the decider.
Mertens
Ranked no.21, Elise impressed in the semifinal against Angelique Kerber after she defeated the German 6-4 2-6 6-1 after winning all the other matches in straight sets.
