Tsitsipas upset by Dzumhur in Rotterdam opener

Stefanos loses in 3 sets

Stefanos Tsitsipas

Another bad day for Stefanos Tsitsipas.

After reaching the semifinal at the Australian Open, the Greek sensation records a grim 1-3 win-loss record following his defeats at the hands of Rafael Nadal (Melbourne), Gael Monfils (Sofia), and now Dami Dzumhur in Rotterdam.

The match vs. Dzumhur

Stefanos looked particularly flat against Damir to be broken 5 times (!!!) during the entire match. That is not a great stat if you consider that this was a best-of-3 match and it was played indoors.

The first set was a bit of a mess with Tsitsipas breaking his opponent twice, but losing his serve 3 times.

In the second set, Dzumhur lost his focus when he was 0-1 down, and Stefanos called a trainer for a knee injury in the middle of the game when Damir was serving, and the scoreline was 40-all. From that moment it was only about the Greek that won the set with a comfortable 6-1.

In the decider, Stefanos recovered from a 1-4 deficit, but eventually he lost the match after a very sloppy 12th game when he dropped the serve at love.

The final result was 6-4 1-6 7-5.

Next step Marseille for Stefanos.
