Simona Halep has just ended a fantastic weekend with Team Romania that ended with their historical qualification in the Fed Cup semifinal after they defeated the defending champions (Czech Republic).
The world no.3 is now in Doha where she has the chance to gain at 1 place in the rankings.
Fed Cup at the same level as the slams
During the pre-tournament press conference, Simona share her love commented
“I still feel the emotions, and it’s been great. And it’s for the first time going to the semifinals, so it means a lot.
It’s different. I cannot say it’s bigger, because I work and live for Grand Slams. In this sport, it’s the most important thing. However, I will put Fed Cup on the same stair, and keep that goal of winning as important as a Grand Slam.”
Simona will face either Lesia Tsurenko or Lara Arrubarrena in the 2nd round in Qatar (she has a bye in the 1st round).
