Simona Halep was decisive in winning the Davis Cup tie against the defending champions (Czech Republic).
The Romanian team was the underdog in the tie, but eventually they managed to win 3-2. Simona Halep was decisive in this feat as she defeated Katerina Siniakova 6-4 6-0 and Karolina Pliskova 6-4 5-7 6-4. Mihaela Buzarnescu lost both singles against Pliskova (6-1 6-4) and Siniakova (6-4 6-2).
Everything went down to the decisive doubles that Irina Begu and Monica Niculescu won 6-7-6 (2) 6-4 6-4.
Team Romania will face Team France in the semifinal (20-21 April).
