Naomi Osaka has always professed her love for Serena Williams that was her childhood idol. The Japanese lived her dream after beating the American in the last US Open final and even if there was a bit of a drama, that (happy) memory will stay for stay forever with her.
I always wanted to be like Serena Williams
During a recent interview, Naomi talked about her admiration for Serena to say
“I don’t think anyone can become the next Serena and Venus. I feel like they’re, like, legend. I don’t think it’s possible with the way tennis is now. I just feel like I want to do the best that I can and hopefully, that’s enough.
One of the things I remember was Serena playing Heather Watson, and I was screaming at my TV, like, Come on, Serena, you can do it.”
Naomi might not be the next Serena but if she keeps on winning slams after slams…. you’ll never know!
