Serena has a great start in Melbourne

Serena’s performance at the Hopman Cup casted some doubts about her form…. well today she provided many answers.

Serena was at her very best against world no. 106 Alison Van Uytvanck to bagel the Belgian in the opening set and finally win 6-0 6-4. The world no.1 was always in full control of the match to struggle only at the very end of the 2nd set on a 4-all 0-30 score-line, besides that everything was fine.

Serena: I had the jitters

After the match Serena commented “I felt okay. As always, I had the jitters going out in the first match of a Grand Slam. It’s never super easy to be the one that everyone wants to beat. So I always have to be a little bit above. But yeah, I felt okay. I definitely think I can improve a tremendous amount though.”

Next vs. Zvonareva

Serena will play former world no.2  Vera Zvonareva. Head to head is 7-2 for Serena. This is not an easy 2nd round.
