Simona Halep is seeded no.1 in Qatar where she may face Elina Svitolina in the semifinals.

Currently ranked no.3, the Romanian has just hired a new coach hoping to get back to her great levels. Since the Romanian is seeded no.1, she will not have to play the 1st round as she received a bye. Simona already won this tournament back in 2014.

Svitolina arrived in Qatar straight from Sofia where she was supporting her boyfriend, Gael Monfils. Seeded no.4 in Doha, also Elina has a bye in the 1st round.
