British no.1 Heather Watson wins her 2nd career title in Hobart.
The Brit achieved this success without dropping a single set after having convincing wins against 3 seeded players (Stephens, Vinci and Riske).
Heather had to face qualifier and world no. 84 Madison Brengle in the final to win with a smooth 6-3 6-4. Match Stats
Watson: I stayed mentally strong
“I’m obviously very happy. It was tough conditions again today, very windy. And I knew Madison would be tough – we know each other very well on and off the court, and we practice a lot in Florida. I knew it would be a tough one today. And it really was my toughest match of the week.
I was happy I stayed mentally strong and managed to get ahead and hold my nerve at the end.”
This is Heather’s 2nd career title after Osaka 2012.
Heather will now play the Australian Open 1st round against Pironkova. However this match will go the Australian Summer has been already great for Heather.
