Petra Kvitova had a great start of the season. The world no.4 was a bit disappointed after losing in the semis in Shenzhen where she was the seed no.2 to recover and win a great title in Sydney.

In the final the Czech had to overcome her friend and compatriot Karolina Pliskova in a tough final that was eventually resolved after 2 tie-breaks in almost 2 hours with the result of 7-6 (5) 7-6 (6).

From Kvitova

Petra commented “First of all, great job this week [Kvitova to Pliskova]. It’s always tough to play a final, and hopefully next time you’re going to win. I’m glad I can stand here as the winner of this tournament. For me, this week will always give me great memories in my mind.”

This is Kvitova’s 15th title. Things look nice for Petra this year.
