Troicki, Kukushkin to clash for the Sydney title

We have a very interesting final in Sydney as 2 qualifiers will have the chance to play for the title.

Troicki

Ranked no. 92, Viktor Troicki is finding some of his best tennis after coming back from his controversial ban for doping.  Viktor defeated Muller 6-2 6-4 in the semifinal.

Troicki commented “I played in the final a few years ago. I could say that I love playing in Sydney, so I hope this time I go a step further. I will try to enjoy it. We have time to rest. We will also see who is fitter. We both had a lot of matches. But I’m looking forward to it.”

Kukushkin

Mikhail Kukushkin is having an incredible run to reach the final without dropping a single set (not easy when you play 7 matches back to back coming from the qualifications). Kukushkin defeated Leonardo Mayer 6-4 6-4.

“It feels good to start the season with a final, with so many wins in a row,” said Mikhail  “I’m enjoying being here in Sydney, to play at a good level in a good tournament. I didn’t expect that…I’mpretty happy with my game, with my results.”

Head to head

This is the 3rd time they play each other. Head to head is 1-all and it has always been a close affair.
