What an epic final!!!
Djokovic confirms to be the man to beat. The Serb has reached a complete ‘tennis maturity’ that is making him an almost impossible hurdle to overcome.
The intersting thing is that Novak was supposed to be hyper-tired from a very tough semifinal against Murray and according to most experts (well.. all) he couldn’t afford a long final and… in fact…he won the longest ever final!!!
it was a feast of tennis. Nadal appeared to be in top form and ready to fight. The Spaniard won the first set 7-5 to suffer a strong come back from Novak that won the next two sets in style (6-4 6-2). Then the pride of the Spaniard brought the match to an epic 5th set.
At that point the match could go either way and it seems that Rafa could really win it when he broke Djokovic to get a 4-2 lead. Then the Serb managed to immediately break back Nadal. Eventually the duo got to a 5-5 draw, but it was the Serb to get the break to win the decider by 7-5.
‘We made history tonight and unfortunately there couldn’t be two winners,’ said Djokovic.
‘Good morning, everybody,’ Nadal said, earning a loud applause. ‘Congratulations to Novak and his team. They deserve it. They are doing something fantastic, so congratulations.’
‘I think we played a great tennis match. I enjoyed being part of this event and this match,’ Nadal said. ‘I am not happy to lose the final, yes, but that’s one of the losses that I am more happy in my career.’
Great great stuff guys!!!
