Switzerland ruled the end of 2014 with the fabulous Davis Cup title and it seems that things will be similar also in 2015!
Roger Federer has just won his 83rd title (1000th win) in Brisbane and his compatriot followed him in Chennai.
Seeded no.1 in India, Stan Wawrinka had a very smooth ride to win the title without dropping a single set. The final against qualifier and world no. 156 Aljaz Bedene lasted only 69 minutes with Stan winning 6-3 6-4. Match Stats.
WAWINKA’S RUN |
From Wawrinka
This is Wawrinka’s 8th career title, the 3rd in Chennai, the 1st of this season (of course!) “I feel really happy. It’s tough to win tournaments on the ATP Tour. I feel good, with more confidence and feeling well with my game. I’m happy with my game in general, but it’s just the beginning of the season and I hope I can play well all the season.”
Stan will now head to Melbourne where he is going to prepare to defend his 2014 title.
