Ferrer wins the title in Doha!

David Ferrer is back!

It was almost 1 year that the Spaniard wasn’t able to win a tournament (Buenos Aires in February) and he stopped the drought in the very first tournament of the season.

David had a rough ride in Doha to win the opener after being a set down (vs. de Bakker) and beating an in-form Karlovic in the semis. In the final the Spaniard had to face Berdych that was playing at his very best to beat him 6-4 7-5 after being in control for the biggest part of the match. The only “shaky” part for David was the 10th game of the 2nd set when he had to save 3 set points on his serve. Then Berdych imploded in the following game to lose the serve and the match.

Match Stats

David scored 65 points vs. Berdych’s  57. The key point of the match was Ferrer’s superiority in converting break points ( 4 of 8) vs. Berdych (2 of 8).

Berdych: I had a solid week

Tomas was happy for a very solid week “First of all, it’s a disappointment to lose the final. But on the other hand, it’s been a very solid week. It’s been a couple of good matches. I was not able to execute the right way (at the final), but I think it’s a good start for me.”
