Danielle Collins and Petra Kvitova are going to face each other in the semifinal in Melbourne. They are scheduled to play on Thursday at 2 pm at the Rod Laver Arena.

Collins

Ranked no.35, Danielle is the big surprise of the Australian Open. The American reached the semifinal after trouncing 2 top players such as Caroline Garcia (6-3 6-2 in the 3rd round) and Angelique Kerber (6-0 6-2 in the 4th round). At 25 years of age, this is the first time that the American is playing in the Australian Open main draw. Until this fortnight, Danielle has never managed to win a single match in a slam.

Kvitova

Ranked no.6, Petra is playing one of the best tennis of her great career. The Czech has a remarkable 11-1 win-loss record in 2019, and she has won the last 10 matches after she conquered the title in Sydney. Kvitova got to the final 4 in Melbourne where she hasn’t dropped a single set for the entire event.

H2H Danielle Collins vs. Petra Kvitova

This is the second time that Danielle and Petra face each other in their career and this month. Petra defeated the American 6-7 (6) 7-6 (6) 6-3 in the 1st round in Brisbane the 1st of January.

The favorite is definitely Petra Kvitova, but who would have thought that the American would have conceded only 2 games to Angelique Kerber? Everything is possible!

I fell in love with tennis after the epic 2008 Wimbledon final between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. From that moment I started to check all the possible stats and the stories behind the tennis players. I have a huge passion for Roger Federer, a great respect for Rafael Nadal and I am interested in the newcomers. Aryna Sabalenka and Naomi Osaka are my favorite players on the WTA tour.
