Federer devastates Duckworth in 39 minutes

Wow Roger… that was a great way to show who is still in charge!

The Swiss Maestro had a below par performance in his opener in Brisbane against world no. 153 John Millman to recover a dramatic 4-6 1-3 deficit. The entire tennis community was curious to see Roger’s reaction today and the Tennis Legend didn’t disappoint to demolish James Duckworth in just 39 minutes.

There is not much to say about this match as there were at least 2 categories between these players with Roger blasting winners from all over the court leaving Duckworth without any answer. The final result was an embarrassing 6-0 6-1 and James was even lucky to get that game. Match Stats

Federer: I was very happy with the performance…

Roger was obviously ecstatic by his tennis to comment “I was very happy the way I played. I played aggressive, served well, and then especially on the return I kept the pressure on time and time again. Next thing you know, it was like I was running away with the score.”

… I saved energy

Roger was also happy to have this sort of free pass to the semis after a tough opener “I saved energy and stress and nerves and everything, because yesterday was quite nerve wracking and physically difficult because it was first match of the season. You’re always going to be a bit tense in that match.”

Next vs. Dimitrov

Roger will play Grigor Dimitrov in the semifinal. Head to Head is 2-0 for Roger. This is going to be a very interesting test for both.
