Milos Raonic wins an extremely smooth match against Sascha Zverev in the Australian Open 4th round on Monday.
The match
This contest was completely bizarre. After Zverev broke Raonic in the very first game, it seemed as the German had already the recipe to win this match in straight sets. However, the exact opposite happened, and the Zverev lost 12 of the following 13 games playing probably the worst tennis of his young career.
Sascha was unable to serve properly and to control the center of the court even on serve. During the match, the Canadian was also teasing Zverev with an extremely slow sliced backhand that put the world no.4 in a very uncomfortable position.
Nevertheless, the German managed to get back and play some (almost) decent tennis in the 3rd set, but after saving 2 match points when he was 5-6 down, he failed to retain a 3-1 lead in the following breaker to lose 6-1 6-1 7-6 (5) after 1 hour.
Currently ranked no.17, Raonic will face either Borna Coric or Lucas Pouille for a place in the semifinal.
