“More resistant, stronger and faster.” Alcaraz’s fitness coach talks about his evolution

Juanjo Moreno is Carlos Alcaraz's physical therapist, with a degree in sports and physiotherapy.

Carlos Alcaraz And His Coaches

The team that supports Carlos Alcaraz is one of his success secrets. Physical therapist Juanjo Moreno has evolved into his shadow from him. He started working with the tennis player from Murcia in 2018, concurrently with the hiring of Juan Carlos Ferrero as coach, and has a degree in sports physical activity sciences and afterward in physiotherapy.

Juanjo told Marca: “I worked in a private clinic and treated soccer players, rugby players, tennis players, a little bit of everything. In 2012 there was a selection process at Equelite and one of the patients was Ferrero, and another was Nico Almagro. I was very impressed that my tryout was with Juan Carlos because I had played tennis and seen him win the Davis Cup and Roland Garros. He had a pathology, and I suppose I hit the key.”

About Carlos Alcaraz’s fitness

Juanjo added:  Yes, that’s right. Carlos’s body has no secret because I have seen its evolution. I remember the first time we evaluated it together with Alberto Lledó (physical trainer). And we built it. People said: ‘My goodness, what a physical change he has made’. And we knew that there were three years of work behind it. The first goal was for me to gain muscle mass, gain strength, be more resistant, stronger and faster.”
