Federer: I am in Brisbane to win

Tournaments before slams are often and considered as a sort of preparation for the upcoming major. This is quite a silly notion as winning an ATP even is always something very important in the career of a pro. This is the same for Roger Federer.

Even if Roger as amassed a mind-blowing 82 titles, the Maestro doesn’t  think that playing the ATP250 tournament Brisbane is something he is doing “just to prepare” the first slam of the season. He wants to win.

Last year I was close

Last year the Maestro lost in final to Hewitt to comment “I was close and was the big favorite going into the final. I just lost rhythm at the very end of the tournament.

I don’t see this as a preparation necessarily. I’m playing here to win.”

Roger is seeded no.1 in Brisbane and he received a bye to play in the second round either against a qualifier or world no. 156 John Millman.

Federer should play in the quarters Simon and Dimitrov in the semifinal. Then … we will see how it will go.

ROGER LOVES KOALAS,
BUT HE IS IN BRISBANE FOR THE TITLE
