Novak Djokovic, the top-ranked male tennis player in the world, will be able to compete at the US Open this year because the US government has announced plans to end its COVID-19 vaccination requirements for visitors from other countries on May 11. The regulations will terminate when the public health emergency related to the coronavirus is lifted next week, the White House stated on Monday.

One of the most well-known players, Djokovic, who was not immunized against COVID-19, was unable to compete at the US Open in 2022. After making fruitless requests to the US authorities for special authorization to compete in the Masters tournaments in Indian Wells and Miami, the 35-year-old Serb was unable to enter the nation this year.

Djokovic declared he would skip great slams rather than have a COVID shot, which is why he skipped the Australian Open last year and was deported from the country due to his vaccination status.
