Djokovic withdraws from Mubadala

Andy Murray wins the Mubadala World Tennis Championship in a very weird way.

The world no.6 has been struggling with his shoulder after defeating Rafa and he wasn’t sure about the opportunity to play the final in Abu Dhabi. Interesting enough the final will never take place, but the reason is not Andy’s shoulder, but the fact that Djokovic wasn’t fit to play due to a strong fever.

Djokovic: I am not fit to play

Nole said in a press release “Unfortunately I am not to be able to play in the final in Abu Dhabi tonight. I’ve been sick today with a fever and I’m not fit to play. Congratulations to Andy, it’s a shame I couldn’t play him today but I’m sure we will meet again soon.

I’ve had another great weekend in Abu Dhabi … and played some great tennis against the best players in the world. I love being a part of this tournament and I’m really disappointed not to be able to take my chance of winning the trophy here again.”

As we said Murray himself was in doubt about his fitness for the final and he was even scheduled to have a scan Saturday afternoon to decide to play the final “I’ll need to see how I am when I wake up in the morning.  I need to wait and see, but I’ll have a scan to check to see if there is anything there.

NOLE WON’T BE ABLE TO DEFEND HIS TITLE
