Maria Sharapova is determined to give a shot at the no.1 ranking, but before that she needs to face a tough draw in Brisbane.
Maria is expected to play 2013 Wimbledon runner-up Sabine Lisicki in the first match, then Suarez Navarro in the quarters and Kerber in the semis.
In the other half of the draw, seed no.2 Ana Ivanovic has a smooth path to have the first tough test only in the quarters against Andrea Petkovic.
The defending champion is Serena Williams that has chosen to play the Hopman Cup in this week.
