Amanda Anisimova reaches the 4th round of the Australian Open

17-year-old Amanda Anisimova stuns the tennis community with a fantastic performance in the 3rd round of the Australian Open after dispatching Aryna Sabalenka 6-3 6-2.

The match

The young American impressed from the very beginning as she showed no nerves when playing such an intimidating competitor as Aryna Sabalenka and on an important venue such as the Margaret Court Arena.

Amanda broke Aryna immediately in the very first game with incredibly aggressive tennis. Later on, the American managed to hold all her service games to break Sabalenka again at the end of the first set (6-3).

The second set was extremely smooth for Anisimova with Sabalenka in evident distress for not finding an answer. Eventually, Anisimova won 6-3 6-2 in just 65 minutes.

Amanda impressed not only with her personality but also for the fact that she was able to constantly dictate the baseline rallies against such a solid player as Sabalenka. Also, the American could rely on a very effective serve when she was in trouble.

Amanda will face either Petra Kvitova or Belinda Bencic in the 4th round.
