
At just 16 years of age, Mirra Andreeva is one of the most interesting upcoming players on the WTA Tour. Mirra has also a funny personality. After dismissing Magda Linette 6-3 6-3, the Russian player had an entertaining interview with Tennis Channel’s Prakash Amritraj. The Russian player was asked to explain what was exciting about rubbing shoulders with the very best of her beloved sport. Mirra did not hide her excitement about being close to some tennis legends, such as Andy Murray.
She commented: “When you’re here and take lunch with all these stars, you see Andy Murray… you see his face. He’s so beautiful in life. He is so amazing.”

Now ranked no.194 (career-high), Mirra has an overall 16-0 record in 2023. The Russian is now having a run in Madrid where she ousted the world no.49 Leylah Annie Fernandez 6-3 6-4, the world no.14 Beatriz Haddad Maia 7-66 6-3 and the world no.19 Magda Linette 6-3 6-3.
Mirra Andreeva will take on the world no.2 Aryna Sabalenka in the 4th round. In the past, they have never played each other until now in top events.
Mirra clinched 2 titles in 2023 Chiasso and Bellinzona.

Ranked world no.52, Andy played his last match on the 27th of April when he lost to world no.164 Andrea Vavassori 6-2 7-6(7) in the 1st round in Madrid (draw).
