Denis Shapovalov will play Taro Daniel in the second round of the Australian Open on Thursday as the 4th match in the morning (est. 4 pm) on the 1573 Arena.
Shapovalov
Currently ranked no.27, Denis has already equaled his 2018 record at the Australian Open where he reached the 2nd round before losing a tough match against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. This year, the Canadian had a good start of his Melbourne campaign after he defeated on Tuesday Pablo Andujar 6-2 6-3 7-6 (3). Denis was particularly happy for the fact that he kept an aggressive stance for the entire match and he intends to do the same also against the Japanese.

Daniel
Ranked no.82, Taro is having a rather bad start of the year. The Japanese has a 3-4 win-loss record and he reached the 2nd round in Melbourne only because Thanasi Kokkinakis had to withdraw in the 1st round while the Australian was leading 7-5 2-4. This year, Taro has also failed to qualify both in Brisbane and Sydney, but he accessed the main draws of both tournaments as a lucky loser.
H2H Denis Shapovalov vs. Taro Daniel
Denis and Taro have never played each other so far. The Canadian is the clear favorite to reach the 3rd round.
