The match
Pablo has been playing mainly at Challenger level and on clay. However, the former world no.32 has a considerable experience that could always prove lethal for youngsters such as Denis.
Shapovalov looked in control and unfazed to get a strong 6-3 6-2 5-3 lead. That happened before suddenly the Canadian lost his focus to win only 2 points in the following 3 games and find himself trailing on an improbable 5-6 scoreline. The Canadian didn’t panic, and he found his groove again. Later he held his service game at love, and he conquered the following breaker to win the match 6-3 6-2 7-6 (3).
