Things are not going well for Emma Raducanu, who has to battle hard to stay in the top 100 in the next few months.
With this week’s revised WTA rankings list, Emma Raducanu has fallen 17 places, and is now rated No. 85 in the world. The 20-year-old Raducanu started last Monday with a global ranking of 68. Raducanu reached the Stuttgart WTA 500 quarterfinals in 2022.
In order to avoid dropping any points, Raducanu knew she would need to win at least two matches and reach the quarterfinals once more last week. But, Raducanu’s time in Stuttgart was cut short when Jelena Ostapenko defeated the British player 6-2, 6-1 in the opening round.
To make things even more complicated, Emma is expected to face Iga Swiatek as early as the 2nd round in Madrid.
