Jannik Sinner, who withdrew due to illness from the finals of the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell, appears to have not recovered and will not compete in the Madrid Open the following week. Sinner has withdrawn, joining players like Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal in not participating in the ATP 1000 Masters warm-up at Roland Garros.
His next tournament will now be in Rome before he travels to Paris, which is unfortunate for the tournament, given his recent performance.
Sinner in Barcelona, ranking, and results in 2023
At the moment ranked no.8 (career-high), Jannik has a composed 26-6 match record in 2023. The Italian is playing at the moment in Barcelona where he defeated the world no.48 Diego Schwartzman 6-2 6-4 and the world no.35 Yoshihito Nishioka 6-1 4-6 6-3.
Sinner will play next in Madrid (Mutua Madrid Open). He will start to play the tournament from the main draw that will commence on the 24th of April.
Novak Djokovic in 2023
Ranked no.1, Novak played his last match on the 21st of April when he was overcome by world no.70 Dusan Lajovic 6-4 7-6(6) in the quarter in Banja Luka (draw).
At the moment, during this season Djokovic has an overall 17-3 match record. Djokovic has won 2 titles in 2023 in Adelaide and Australian Open.
Djokovic is scheduled to compete next in Madrid (Mutua Madrid Open). He will start to play the tournament from the main draw that will commence on the 24th of April.

At the moment ranked no.14, Rafael played his last match on the 18th of January when he surrendered to world no.54 Mackenzie Mcdonald 6-4 6-4 7-5 in the 2nd round in the Australian Open (draw).
