Tennis is ruling in the US.
Novak Djokovic has been named the Athlete of the Year while Maria Sharapova has been named the Female Athlete of the Year.
To win this Award Nole had to compete with the likes of Lionel Messi, Floyd Mayweather, Rafael Nadal, Rory McIlroy and Peyton Manning.
This is the 2nd time that Djokovic has won the award after 2011.

The Academy posted on its website “The Academy is proud to announce Novak Djokovic, professional tennis player from Serbia as the Male Athlete of the Year and Maria Sharapova, professional tennis player from Russia as the Female Athlete of the Year,”
“The Serbian star is one of only four men to be named World Champion four or more times, alongside Ivan Lendl, Pete Sampras and Roger Federer,” they added.
Novak will kick start the new seasons in Abu Dhabi where he will play the Mubadala World Tennis Championship while Maria will play the WTA event in Brisbane.
