“I couldn’t walk for 2 months,” says Sascha Zverev, praising Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal for handling injuries

Alexander Zverev talks about his struggle with an ankle injury

Zverev Ankle Injury

After sustaining a serious injury himself, Alexander Zverev developed a newfound appreciation for Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal and the manner they managed their injuries.

Zverev fully damaged his ankle in Roland Garros, which caused him to miss the remainder of 2022. Zverev suffered with the injury because he was unable to walk for a sizable period of time after it occurred. As an athlete, it was really difficult for him, but he had a fresh understanding of how some of the legends handled their numerous injuries:

“Rafa and Roger are different. They come back from injury and they start winning tournaments immediately. I don’t know how they do that. But they’ve been doing it for 20 years now. I needed time but I think also my injury was maybe a little bit different. I was not able to walk really for two months. You have to learn your movements again, you have to learn how to walk again, you have to learn how to run again,” said Sascha.
