It’s Federer again in Switzerland!
The Maestro wins the award as the Sportsman of the Year in Switzerland after a great season. The no.2 was Olympic gold medal skier Dominique Gisin. Wawrinka ended up “only” as no.3
The Davis Cup squad was elected top Swiss sports team of the year.
Federer has won this award in 2003, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2012 and now in 2014.
Wawrinka’s controversy
Many expected Stan Wawrinka to win the award after winning the Australian Open. Even Roger mentioned him during the ceremony saying “I share this award with Stan Wawrinka who won in Australia. [i] Was happy for him like if he was my brother”
Stan didn’t attend the awards for (alleged) illness and he congratulated both the team and Roger for their awards.
Congrats @rogerfederer @sportsawards_ch !! #TheBoss
