We are getting closer and closer to the start of the 2019 Australian Open and Roger Federer has 1 name in mind as the super-favorite: Novak Djokovic.
The world no.1 had a rather disappointing run in Doha where he struggled during 3 of the last 4 matches that he played. Eventually, he ended up losing in the semifinals at the hands of Roberto Bautista Agut.
On the other side, Roger Federer played a fantastic Hopman Cup. He conquered the competition at the photo-finish and he impressed for his remarkable tennis. The Swiss won all his 4 single matches and in the last one, he dismissed Alexander Zverev with an impressive 6-4 6-2.
Why Novak Djokovic is the favorite. FEDERER
During a recent interview, Roger commented
“No doubt about it, Novak is the favourite. Regardless of what happened in Doha, he had a super, super strong last five or six months of the year.
With his class, once he gets his groove back he is hard to beat.”
… I am also one of the favorites
Then Roger added
“I’m one of the top 10 favorites and so are many others. I don’t know the draw yet, I don’t know who my first round opponent is, I don’t know if I play on Monday or day or night.
In terms of who is going to win it, we know who the usual suspects are and I am part of that bunch.”
