Boris Becker talks about splitting with Novak Djokovic and his coaching team

Boris Becker reveals why he decided not to coach Djokovic anymore

Novak Djokovic And Coach Boris Becker

During his dominance of the ATP Tour over the previous 10 years, Novak Djokovic rose to become one of the greatest tennis players in history. Thanks to a lot of committed coaches who worked to develop his skills, he rose from a lowly beginning to the pinnacle of the elites. Several coaches supported Novak and helped him to reach his full potential. One of such coaches for the Serbian legend was Boris Becker. When Djokovic was struggling, the two decided to part ways in 2016, although they did it amicably. In his most recent documentary, Becker recounted their chat in its entirety.

Boris Becker remembered what he said to Djokovic following their talk about parting up in the documentary. Becker concurred and stated that he would be upset if Nole simply attended the event for participation’s sake and walked away empty-handed.

Boris said to Novak: “Well listen, first of all I love you and I respect you and we’ve done something together that’s been an unbelievable journey for me. Boris Becker learned something about me and about tennis and maybe a bit about you. I’m not good at losing and if you want to go to Shanghai and you want to go to Paris and you’re happy to be there, I’m the wrong guy for you. I think we better stop.”
