Stefanos Tsitsipas is getting ready for the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters, which will be held next week on the picturesque French Riviera. Stefanos Tsitsipas has won the last 2 editions of the ATP1000 in Monte Carlo and he wants to go for more. For the Greek star, the Monegasque clay has proven to be a fruitful hunting ground. The Monte-Carlo Masters trophy has moved into Tsitsipas’ home in Monaco. Rafael Nadal, the King of Clay, is the only other active player in this tournament’s open era to have won at least 3 titles in Monte Carlo
During the pre-tournament press conference, Stefanos commented:
“It is a pleasure to return to the clay-court swing. It is one of the most fascinating parts of the year, starting the clay-court swing in Monte-Carlo, which is my favourite place in the world.
I am looking to make it three. But I won’t take too much time thinking of it. I am feeling refreshed that we are able to start playing on clay again. It is my home tournament and having won the event twice. It gives me so much happiness that I was able to live and experience those moments. I am hoping to make it more than twice this week.”
Seeded no.2, Stefanos had a rather favorable draw with most top players battling in the top half.
