Naomi Osaka didn’t have a great day on Saturday in Brisbane where she lost in straight sets to Lesya Tsurenko 6-4 6-2 following a mediocre display of tennis.
However, the Japanese impressed with her maturity soon after the match during the press conference when she wasn’t shy in admitting she didn’t like her own attitude.
I had the worst attitude. OSAKA
Noami commented
“If I’m being really frank, I just feel like I had the worst attitude today.
I feel like I didn’t really know how to cope with not playing well. I was sulking a little bit, and like there are moments that I tried not to do that, but then the ball wouldn’t go in, and then I would go back to being, like, childish and stuff.
I feel like last year I did a lot of that. I’m trying to change it more, and I think I have.”
So proud of Naomi. SASCHA BAIJIN
Naomi’s coach, Sascha Baijin, was extremely happy on how Naomi coped with the situation to comment
“For me, as a coach hearing this press conference is pure gold.
If I wasn’t working with her right now I would die to do it in the future. So proud of Naomi and how far she has come.
Stay open minded and all the doors will open by itself for you young warrior!”
