Several former professionals and pundits believe that Carlos Alcaraz will have a great future, but he and his team are not concentrating on that. The Spanish youngster is in very capable hands. He has worked with Juan Carlos Ferrero, a former ATP player who attained the sport’s greatest level, for the majority of his career. Alcaraz won a major early in his career (US Open 2022) and rose to the top of the world rankings.

Yet, the 19-year-old and his group are more concerned with ongoing improvement than with compiling accolades. Ferrero recently discussed how his protégé is able to adjust to his opponents and defeat them in an interview with Tennis Majors.

The Spanish coach claims that Alcaraz surprised him when he was able to adjust when he was just 15 years old and faced Dominic Thiem in a training session. Thiem was a player who had advanced to two Roland Garros finals and won the US Open.

Ferrero commented: “One of the greatest things I remember about him happened when he was 15, when he practised with players that were much better than him, like Dominic Thiem in Rio de Janeiro. He adapted his speed to Thiem’s speed, which was much faster than he normally hit. I felt before it was one of his assets, but then you could see it. Very few can do that.”
