Carlos Alcaraz continued to produce impressive performances in 2023 after a stellar season in 2022. He has already won two tournaments this year, the Indian Wells Masters and the Argentina Open. Ferrero discussed his relationship with Alcaraz in a recent interview with Tennis Major. Ferrero shared his initial impressions of Alcaraz while describing how he first met the World No. 2 and the reasons he chose to become his coach.
Alexander Zverev, who Ferrero was training at the time, allegedly traveled in luxury hotels and travelled on private planes, according to the Spanish. Ferrero, on the other hand, was aware that dealing with Alcaraz would entail much more effort.
“It was a big decision to take. It was the opposite of what I lived with Zverev in the past. It wasn’t anymore a life of private jets and high-standard hotels,” Ferrero said.
