Aryna Sabalenka storms in the Shenzhen semifinal

Aryna has no problems in her quarterfinal against Maria Sharapova after the Russian withdrew when she was trailing 6-1 4-2

Sabalenka strong in Shenzhen

Aryna Sabalenka was meant to have a tough ride in the quarterfinals against Maria Sharapova, but eventually things got rather smooth.

The match

It was clear from the very beginning that Maria Sharapova was struggling with her left leg. The Belarussian was all over the places, but the Russian still tried to offer some opposition. Eventually, Maria had to call it off after she was trailing on a 6-1 4-2 scoreline to avoid some more damage.

Sharapova herself benefited from the withdrawal of her opponent in the previous match when Wang Xinyu had to stop to play also because she was struggling with her left leg.

Aryna will face either Monica Niculescu or Yafan Yang for a place in the final.
