Nice stuff in Shenzhen!
Maria Sharapova was having a tough time against the 17-year-old Wang Xinyu that was playing incredible tennis in the 2nd round in Shenzhen. The Chinese managed to win the first set against the Russian, and she looked pretty strong for the rest of the match.
Unfortunately, the youngster got injured at her left leg, and she had to retire when she was leading 7-6 (4) 2-5.

Soon after the retirement, Maria went to console her opponent to say “You played unbelievable, OK? Unbelievable. Take care of yourself. If you play like that you’re going to be number one, I promise.”
Maria will face Aryna Sabalenka in the quarters. However this tournament is going to end for the Russian, she will probably be remembered for this nice gesture.
