Roddick elected All England Club honorary member

Andy Roddick has never managed to win a title in Wimbledon, but he came really close to it and many times.

The former world no.1 reached the final at the Championships in 2004, 2005 and 2009 but he was always stopped by Roger Federer.

The 2009 final was particularly heartbreaking for Andy that played at his very best to lose 5-7 7-6 (6) 7-6 (5)3-6 16-14. In that final Andy was broken only once (in the last set) and he set the record for winning more games in a Wimbledon final (39).

A Wimbledon titlist becomes automatically the Honorary Member of the All England Club (the Club hosting the Championships) , but it looked unfair that Andy didn’t have the privilege.

Apparently it was Tim Henman to break the news to Andy  “I was able to take him to Wimbledon a couple of days ago because he’s being made an honorary member, which he was so excited about, having been a three-time finalist,”

Well deserved!
