Elena Rybakina made it to her second straight final; following Indian Wells, she will compete in the WTA 1000 event in Miami where she will face Petra Kvitova for the title. The tennis player from Kazakhstan is no longer a surprise. Recent performances and results paint a picture of a player who is in fantastic shape and conscious of her capabilities.
At Wimbledon 2022, the first victory in a Grand Slam competition occurred. Her first 1000 came on March 19 in Indian Wells. At the Miami Open, Rybakina defeated home favorite Jessica Pegula with scores of 7-6 (3), 6-4.
During a recent interview, Elena explained why it is so difficult to win Indian Wells and Miami back-to-back.
“Sunshine Double? It’s really tough because of the different conditions in these two weeks. You can see by analyzing the matches that it has been much more difficult for me here than in Indian Wells. For now, I have to think only about the final. I will do my best to get the Sunshine Double and I hope to do it,” said Rybakina.
