Daniil Medvedev, Andrey Rublev, Aryna Sabalenka, and Veronika Kudermetova have finally been given the opportunity to play again at Wimbledon this year. In the previous season, tennis players from Russia and Belarus were not allowed to play tennis tournaments in the UK. The ban has been lifted this year.
The neutrality declaration
In order to compete in the UK, tennis players need to sign a “neutrality declaration.”
This was the Lawn Tennis Association declaration: ‘Our decision last year to ban Russian and Belarusian players from our tournaments led to significant penalties being imposed on us by both the ATP and WTA tours, including the real prospect of the termination of our membership if we were to repeat the ban in 2023.
This would mean the cancellation of our professional tennis events at Queens, Eastbourne, Birmingham and Nottingham this year and indeed in the future. The effect on British tennis of the LTA being expelled from the tours would be very damaging and far-reaching for the game in our country.
Given this, and our responsibility as the national governing body of tennis in Britain, we have worked closely with the UK Government, ATP, WTA and ITF, alongside the All England Club, to find a solution for 2023.
Our position in support of the people of Ukraine remains unchanged in 2023 as does our concern around the Russian and Belarusian regimes deriving reputational and other benefits by seeking to associate themselves with players.
Taking these considerations together, we have agreed that all Russian and Belarusian players and support staff who wish to take part in our events in 2023 will be required to sign neutrality declarations. This is in line with the UK Government’s guidance and is an approach that has been used in other sports.
There will also be a zero-tolerance approach to any flags, symbols or other actions which support Russia, Belarus or the war from anyone in our venues, including players and spectators.”
Medvedev in Miami, ranking, and results in 2023
Currently the world no.5, Medvedev achieved a composed 27-3 record in 2023. Daniil is now playing in Miami where he bested the world no.84 Roberto Carballes Baena 6-1 6-2, the world no.56 Alex Molcan w/o, the world no.79 Quentin Halys 6-4 6-2 and the world no.119 Christopher Eubanks 6-3 7-5.
Daniil Medvedev will face the world no.16 Karen Khachanov in the semifinal on Friday at 1:00 pm on STADIUM. Their head to head is 3-1 for Medvedev.
Daniil has won 3 titles in 2023 in Rotterdam, Doha and Dubai. The Russian was the runner-up in Indian Wells (BNP Paribas Open).
Medvedev won 18 titles in his career: 9 on hard courts, 8 on indoor courts and 1 on grass courts. (See the list of his titles)
He is also scheduled to play in Barcelona (Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell) on the 17th of April and Madrid (Mutua Madrid Open) on the 26th of April.
Andrey Rublev in 2023
Ranked world no.7, the Russian played his last match on the 28th of March when he surrendered to world no.11 Jannik Sinner 6-2 6-4 in the 4th round in Miami (draw).
Currently, during this year Rublev has a 13-8 win-loss record. Andrey Rublev’s best result of the present year was reaching the final in Dubai.
He is also scheduled to play in Madrid (Mutua Madrid Open). The main draw will start on the 26th of April.
Daniil Medvedev and Andrey Rublev played each other 8 times. Their record is 6-2 for Medvedev. Previously, the last time they squared off, Daniil Medvedev won 6-2 6-2 in the final in Dubai (Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships) on the 4th of March 2023.

Aryna Sabalenka in 2023
WWWLWWWWWW Ranked world no.2 (career-high), the Belarussian played her last match on the 29th of March when she was overcome by world no.74 Sorana Cirstea 6-4 6-4 in the quarter in Miami (draw).
Until now, during this year Aryna has a 20-3 match record. Sabalenka clinched 2 titles in 2023 in Adelaide and Australian Open. Aryna was the finalist in Indian Wells.
Veronika Kudermetova in 2023
LWLWLWWWLW Currently ranked no.11, Veronika played her last match on the 24th of March when she was defeated by world no.103 Marketa Vondrousova 6-4 6-2 in the 2nd round in Miami (draw).
During this season Veronika has a 10-7 win-loss record. Veronika Kudermetova’s best result of the year was reaching the semifinal in Adelaide and Doha.
