Hewitt, Kyrgios dedicate victory to Philipp Hughes

The Singapore Slammers have finally won their first match of the International Premier Tennis League. The team has a strong Australian DNA as it is represented by Rafter, Hewitt and Kyrgios and there was a lot of emotion about Philipp Hughes, the Australian cricketer that had to sadly surrender to a freak accident while playing his beloved sport.

Yesterday Lleyton and Nick won their doubles to share a thought soon after their team won the match against the Micromax Indian Aces (24-23).

Hewitt commented “There’s a lot of people hurting back in Australia today with the funeral of a good friend, Phillip Hughes. Nick and I want to dedicate this win tonight to him.

I sat and watched the whole funeral today – it was one of the toughest things I’ve sat through.

I can’t speak how tough his family and friends are doing at the moment and the Australian cricket team but it’s really knocked the whole nation, not just the sport but the people in Australia as well.

But this is when people have to come together, to come as one and I’ve been really proud of our country.”
