Nadal, Murray, Dimitrov the top stars in a packed draw in Brisbane

The draw of the Brisbane ATP250 is out, and there are many stars that are going to fight for the title.

The Seeds

The 8 seeds are Nadal, Nishikori, Edmund, Medvedev, Raonic, Dimitrov, De Minaur and Kyrgios.

The most dangerous unseeded player is Andy Murray that was also the champion in 2012 and 2013. Let’s analyze the possible path of the top players.

Nadal

Rafa will come from Abu Dhabi where he lost his match against Kevin Anderson. The seed no.1 has direct access to the second round in Brisbane to possibly face the following players:

R2  – Tsonga
1/4 – De Minaur
1/2 – Medvedev/Murray/ Raonic
Fin – Nishikori/Dimitrov/Edmund

Murray

Andy accessed the main draw because of his protected ranking. The former world no.1 is projected to face the following opponents:

R1  – Duckworth (WC)
R2  – Medvedev
1/4 – Raonic
1/2 – Nadal
Fin –  Nishikori/Dimitrov/Edmund

Dimitrov

Grigor will try to bounce back from a not so convincing 2018. He is projected to play the following players:

R1  – Nishioka
R2  – Millman
1/4 – Nishikori
1/2 – Edmund
Fin –  Nadal

Plausible quarters

Nadal – De Minaur
Murray – Raonic
Edmund – Kyrgios
Nishikori – Dimitrov

Favorite in Brisbane

It’s really difficult to point at a favorite. In fact, Nadal and Murray may not have the preparation to stay fit if they have a deep run. On the other side, whoever wins the possible quarter between Dimitrov and Nishikori will have a good opportunity to reach the final and then win the all thing.

The defending champion

Nick Kygrios is the defending champion. The Australian no.2 may not be the favorite to win the title also because his preparation was stopped after being bitten by a spider over Christmas.
