Following her exclusion from Britain’s BJK Cup roster for the forthcoming qualification match against France, Raducanu recently talked about her Olympic dream. The team’s captain, Anne Keothavong, had to choose the same lineup as the game in November since the world No. 72 claimed to be “unavailable.”
The 20-year-old had earlier claimed that she “didn’t know” when the tie was to take place. However, Raducanu’s second consecutive absence from the BJK Cup squad may dash her chances of competing in the upcoming Summer Olympics.
A player must play at least twice for their national team in the four years between each Olympics to qualify for the upcoming games. The Tokyo Olympics were previously postponed to 2021, and the time frame for the forthcoming games in Paris has been shortened to three years.
How Emma Raducanu can play the Olympics
Yet, with two more possibilities approaching, Raducanu will need to make herself available for the team at least once more before the summer Olympics in Paris. Depending on the outcome of the qualifying next month, Britain will either get to play in the Finals or the play-offs in November.
