Mats Wilander believes Carlos Alcaraz will have a significant impact on tennis history due to his high level of play.

Carlos Alcaraz

Carlos Alcaraz will be the next one after Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal according to Mats Wilander. Mats believes that he will alter the course of tennis history.

After Alcaraz’s victory at the Indian Wells Masters, Mats Wilander spoke with Eurosport. Like many commentators, he was astounded by how Alcaraz defeated Medvedev, who hadn’t lost in two months, to win that match. Wilander thinks Alcaraz will have a significant impact on the history of the sport and change it directly because of the high level he is displaying.

Wilander commented: “After Medvedev beat Djokovic in the final of the US Open a couple of years ago, we thought that, ‘okay, he’s going to be the one making the difference.’ And no, he isn’t, actually because Nadal and Djokovic are still winning Grand Slams. So there’s a chance that Alcaraz will be the one that’s going to decide the future history of our game. There is a chance!”
