Andy optimistic, but cautious about his future

Andy Murray is finally back to competitions after he was sidelined for 1 year and a half following his hip injury.

The former world no.1 is currently in Brisbane after a proper preparation during the off-season. On Thursday Andy looked free in his movements to give the impression that he has no pain to his hip, but unfortunately, that is not entirely true.

Murray still having some pain to his hip

Andy was rather upset for withdrawing at the last moment last year in Brisbane where he is still unbeaten following the titles in 2012 and 2013. This year things are much better after an operation (January 2018) and long rehabilitation, but the Brit admits that he still needs to test his condition during a proper competition and a series of back to back matches.

During an interview with the Courier Mail, the world no.256 commented

I still have some pain in my hip, but I need to play matches and see how it feels when I am able to play three, four, five matches in a row and take it from there.

Last year when I came here it was tough, I was struggling quite a lot. It definitely feels a bit better than it did coming here last year. I’ve always loved playing here.

I’m in a better place than I was a few months ago.’’

The tournament will start on the 31st of December to end the 6th of January.
