Sharapova, Ivanovic do not like the shot clock

Maria Sharapova and Ana Ivanovic are playing the controversial International Premier Tennis League (IPTL) to have mixed feeling about the “shot clock concept”.

For long time the tennis community has been talking about the opportunity of introducing a shot clock in tennis (and we agree with that) to avoid huge pauses between points.

The IPTL has taken a step forward to introduce (a very aggressive) shot clock that gives just 20 seconds for players to resume the game.

Maria would probably not be very happy of the introduction of the shot-clock in the official tournaments as it would “disturb” her little procedures between points. So when Maria was asked about what she disliked the most of the IPTL format she went straight to that: the shot-clock.  “I feel like pressing ‘snooze’ all the time,”

Few months ago Ana said she would have been happy at seeing the introduction of the shot-clock on the official circuit, but now she has changed a bit her idea (20 seconds is not enough?)

This time Ana commented “I need some more time and breaks in between, [and the] balls sometimes not being in place”.
